Brevard County's First Time Home Buyer Program

Brevard county's first time homebuyer program is not just for first time homebuyers.  If you have not owned a home in the past 3 years, you may qualify!  Brevard County will give you a 0% loan to make your down payment.

This program was created to help low and median income families buy a home.  You may purchase an existing or new home, but not a mobile home.

You will be expected to hire home inspectors (we have a list to choose from) to identify problems with major systems, like the roof, plumbing and electrical.

To be eligible, you must be able to secure a first mortgage with a payment that does not exceed your affordability ratios (34% and 42%). 

Your liquid assets may not exceed $8,000 and you must attend a 5 1/2 hour Homebuyer Education Workshop.  Call or text 321-432-3000 for a class schedule.

Your eligibility requirements depend on your total income and size of your family.  Brevard County does not discriminate on the basis of race, creed, color, religion, age, sex, familial status, national origin, or handicap.

Brevard County's first time homebuyer program applicants must make a minimum contribution of $500 or $1000, depending on income level.

Applicants will also be responsible for other costs associated with obtaining a mortgage and closing a loan, like appraisal fees, credit reports, insurance premiums, etc.

The actual amount of down payment assistance will be the minimum needed to buy a new or existing home.  The amounts can range from about $7,000 to over $40,000.  This amount is provided in the form of a second mortgage, at zero percent interest (0%), payable to Brevard County.
